Put A Strip On It: Dissolving Cannabis Strips and Tinctures For Morning Sickness

June 25, 2018

Morning sickness which many of us know can hit in the morning, evening or last all day is caused by an increase in hormones and decreased blood sugar. It's symptoms include nausea, vomiting, dehydration, decreased energy and in severe cases hospitalization. While it's most common during early pregnancy, it can rear its ugly head in later months due to increased blood circulation. Sublingual strips and tinctures are a life changing form of micro-dosing and a pregnant persons best defense against morning sickness

Both THC and CBD combat nausea and vomiting but in two completely different ways. According to CBD School: "THC controls nausea and vomiting by stimulating the CB1 receptors in the brain, especially the CB1 receptors found in the regulatory centers for nausea and vomiting". While for CBD, "CBD, on the other hand, controls nausea by influencing the serotonin receptors as well as decreasing the release of serotonin so there’ll be less stimulation of the vomiting center in the brain."

I find that strips are great when even simply keeping liquids down is of particular difficulty. In cases of hyperemesis gravidarum, even water won't stay put. Sublingual strips bypass the stomach by dissolving and absorbing into oral glands. Since the strip stays in place on the lip or cheek... You can vomit knowing your meds are securely dissolved in under a minute. Take that, morning sickness!

Tinctures or tonics are a fantastic before meal dosing option as they are more effective on an empty stomach. Just after waking, before lunch, and at bedtime are suggested times to administering tincture. A calibrated dropper full beneath the tongue for 30 seconds gives a controlled dose that provides both the sublingual and edible benefits
